Toddler Stylings

Ivor is definitely starting to develop and exert his own preferences. While some of his 'preferences', such as eating food found lying on the pavement or playing with dog poop also found lying on the pavement, are unlikely to be accepted, I try to allow him some opportunities for decision-making. This usually comes in the form of choosing his own clothes/shoes.

So what does a 16 month old choose to wear? Why, wellies, of course- he is Scottish after all!

Wellies are a definite win with this child. I'm pretty sure this is entirely to do with the fact that the only pair of wellies he owns are a wonderful bright red color, which Ivor seems to be particularly attracted to lately. The other morning he was desperate to go to the corner shop with Ross to get milk, so I popped his wellies over his pajamas, threw on his jacket and off they went. Since then, every morning after snuggling with us in bed, he runs off to find his wellies and asks me to put them on him, so he can saunter around the flat in them. Who knew rain boots could be so exciting?!

Yesterday I let Ivor choose each item of clothing from shirt to socks and here is what he came up with:

In case you can't tell, that is multi-color stripy top, with green trousers, yellow socks and a red bib. And no outfit is complete without shoes and a sweater:
You'll have to image the 'swagger' that went with this expression.
I sometimes get comments about how colorfully and 'well-dressed' Ivor is and I have to laugh that these comments usually come on days when I let him pick.

By the way, Ivor loves to walk/stand with his belly pushed out and his hip cocked to one side. So most of his photos these days look like this:
Gotta love those wild toddler curls too!
I love this sweet kid and his toddler stylings!

  1. Of COURSE he swaggers with his hip confidently cocked; he looks good, and he KNOWS it! :)
