Our First Plant

I recently took the big plunge and bought our first live plant. It is a coriander plant (that's cilantro to you Americans) that I discovered at our grocery store. I use a lot of coriander when I cook, so I thought it could double as something green and something useful.

Right now our planty guy sits in his designated area on our window sill in the living room. He is still in his store provided plastic pot, but I am planning on replanting him into something more suitable soon.

This is a big step, especially since my track record with plants is no phenominal (just ask Mom, who frequently blamed the deaths of her flowers on my poor water and tending skills.) I have no idea how we will manage to keep it alive, since I am fairly certain plants require at least some sun to survive, and this country is unlike to have anything but grey and wet for the next 6-8 months. Maybe I should buy it a sun lamp or some kind of incubation system to endure the winter...
