December is usually such a busy time, filled with parties, family gatherings, decorations, baking and all the shopping, preparation and clean up that come with them. However, instead of getting caught up in the craziness of the season, I ended up spending the last week cuddling my sick teething baby, while he used my shirt as his personal tissue. Being covered in snot and holding a crying baby was not exactly how I envisioned spending this Christmas, but it has given me a chance to slow down and reflect on the real significance of Christmas- Emmanuel!
Looking at my sniffling totally dependant little baby, I am never more amazed at the great love and humility of Jesus who took the form of a baby, 'made himself nothing' (Phil 2:7), just to save a sinful world. It is this beautiful and compelling love that I want to celebrate this Christmas.
'The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.' -Isaiah 9:2
We hope you all have a wonderful time celebrating.
