I have resisted making this an all-about-baby blog for more than half my pregnancy, which I feel is actually pretty good considering that this addition is a pretty big deal for us. However, after requests for belly shots and updates (I guess some people want evidence of my expanding waist), I decided to bore you all with a few details:
Our anomaly scan took place just after Christmas. The technician had to do quite a few checks, so we got a pretty good look at our wiggly and, thankfully, healthy baby. We decided to give into peer pressure and find out the baby's sex while we were there. (Spoiler alert- It's a Boy!)
Even though, I've passed the halfway point, May still seems like a long way off. However, with all the work deadlines, preparations, antenatal classes, and midwife visits between now and D-day, I suspect the time will pass quicker than we might want it too. Plus, I'm hoping Ross and I might be able to squeeze in a little mini-break (our last trip as a twosome!) somewhere along the way.
Baby must have had a major growth spurt around Christmas, because until then I wasn't really showing, hadn't really gained weight, and still fit into most of my clothes (albeit with some discomfort). The last couple weeks my belly has really popped and, it may be all in my head, but I feel like I get bigger by the day! I confess that I haven't been taking week-by-week belly shots to track my progress, but to satisfy the curious I took a couple belly pics with my webcam. Here is what I look like in my current state (apologies for the poor image quality):

Things I've been really thankful for this week:
1. The comfort of hot chocolate, stretchy pyjama bottoms and warm socks.
2. Having the reassurance that baby seems to be healthy and developing properly.
3. Having relatively few pregnancy niggles and the energy to get through my working day.
4. Starting to feel our little guy wiggling and kicking.
5. A sweet and supportive husband to share this crazy new stage of life with.
6. Our loving friends and family, who are all so excited for us. You all are such a blessing!

So exciting!!! YAY for having a boy!!!
